China Story Carnival debuts! (#1)

Dear ChinaBlog.cc Readers,

It’s Carnival time!

As the only active CHINA carnival on blogcarnival.com, China Story Carnival officially debuts today! Hooray!

I plan to host China Story Carnival once a month. It is our place to share our experiences and stories about China among all the bloggers around the world. Join us!

In this first issue, we got three submissions. mmm, not so many, but every piece is nice to read. So grab a coffee or tea, lay back to your cozy chair, and start clicking!

Chris presents Farting to Enlightenment posted at Martial Development.

Zen

This is a very funny old Chan (Zen) Buddhism tale. Chris translated this story vividly. It tells us the old saying: action is better than talk.

For your convenience: eight winds in Chan Buddihsm means eight attitudes other people might judge you and affect your mind meditation:  prosperity, decline, disgrace, honor, praise, censure, suffering and pleasure.

Meg presents Take Care Knock Heads posted at Simpson’s Paradox.

In this story, Meg shared her experience and discussion on funny Chinglish “disasters”, such as “take care knock heads (小心碰头)”.

Conan Stevens presents True Legend Chinese Movie posted at Action Hero In Asia.

True Legend Poster

In this story, Conan shares his experience in working on a Hong Kong movie “True Legend”. Su Qi-Er is the Mandarin title of this movie, Directed by Hong Kong great Yuan Woo Ping, Conan worked for 3 weeks on the movie…

Did you enjoy these China stories? Hope I will see you again next month!

  • Awesome! The three stories are all good. I laughed at the Chinglish, did a post on that myself last time I went to Beijing in 2008.

I have just submitted a story, hope you got it! Give me a couple of days to link back, I'm still in France, flying back to Canada tomorrow :-)
